Resaca Beach

Resaca Beach
Resaca Beach is approximately a 15 minute hike down a steep trail to reach the beach. Very few people ever get to this secluded beach. On this day there wasn't a single person there.
If you think the trek to Brava is tough, forget about getting to Resaca. It's the most difficult beach to get to in Culebra, and unless you relish a challenging hike, you're better off getting here by boat. It's also a mirror image of next-door Brava Beach. Resaca, incidentally, means "undertow," so I wouldn't recommend swimming.

On the north side of the island, to the east of Flamenco Beach, this beach is spectacular. Swimming is not recommended here as the Spanish word ‘resaca’ means undertow!  The hike to the beach is probably the most difficult of hikes on Culebra.  The trail is quite steep and rocky. Resaca is mostly a surfer’s beach. It is one of the beaches monitored by the Fish and Wildlife Service for the turtle program.  It is maintained by F&WL, which should be contacted if you plan to go down to the beach.

Like Brava then Resaca is another huge beach where you will likely not find another person.  It is a slightly steeper hike then the hike to Brava. I do not recommend snorkeling Resaca.  I have snorkeled the east end and did not really see much.  My guess is the west end is probably the same. I think Resaca is best if you are after a huge stretch of beach that you can have all to yourself.
